Los Angeles Urban Corps
The world is urbanizing-over half the world's population lives in cities. Southern California is a regional MegaCity with a population over 18 million and is directly linked to global trends. Los Angeles is a living laboratory where multi-ethnicity is the norm. How can people of faith interact with this context? Where do faith, vocation, globalization and the city connect? These are the questions we are asking. Come help us find the answers!
Los Angeles Urban Corps is a project which seeks to equip young-adult to navigate issues of faith, work, and culture in a global society. It operates with a bias for the city and encourages young adults to engage the urban context of Los Angeles. Participants live in community and volunteer 30-35 hours a week in meaningful work placements. In addition, participants will take part in a weekly formation seminar which helps them learn from and interpret the city of Los Angeles. The program is in the start-up phase and continues to develop.
