The Los Angeles Experience

The Los Angeles Experience (LAX) is a customizable, short-term learning experience for groups of all shapes and sizes. Father Richard Rohr, OFM states that change and growth take pace in luminal space. LAX is a program that intends to create that luminal space where development can occur by offering groups an experience outside business as usual which is academically rigorous, transformative, and challenging. Additionally, a strong relational dynamic where participants have the opportunity to create deeper connection and respect for brothers and sisters in Christ who are doing the challenging work of ministry in God's cities is a central aspect to this program.

What types of groups can we work with?

  • Youth Groups
  • Student Groups
  • Church Leadership Committees
  • Church-Wide Agencies
  • Pastors and Missionaries
  • …And Many More

Examples of groups who have participated in LAX

Mennonite World Conference - LAX hosted a two-week assembly for Mennonite World Conference in March, 2006, providing meeting space, volunteers, and opportunities to connect with local leadership, ministries, and recreational activities.

Hesston College - LAX hosted a day-long 'urban plunge' experience for students in Hesston College's Pastoral Ministries Program.

Bluffton University - LAX is currently developing an 18-day learning experience for 20 students in May, 2007 which will satisfy Bluffton's cross-cultural requirements.
